New Star Wars Film Every Year As Of 2015

Filmmaker George Lucas meets "Star Wars"-inspired Disney characters at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida

Exciting news comes from the galaxy far, far away…

At the CinemaCon movie theater convention in Las Vegas, Disney and LucasFilm revealed a very aggressive production schedule for the upcoming Star Wars franchise.

Beginning with J.J. Abrams’ release of Star Wars: Episode VII in 2015, fans can expect a new Star Wars movie every year, alternating between the new full-scale trilogy set to conclude in 2019 and a series of standalone spin off films that take place within the same universe.

LucasFilm was acquired by Disney back in 2012 and joined the ranks of blockbuster masterminds like Pixar and Marvel.
